3) Chitosan is a fiber made from the exoskeletons of shellfish and 
    certain other animals. This fiber has been shown to reduce 
    cholesterol and triglycerides in the body
4) There are two main factors that determine the quality of Chitosan:
    a) The degree of deacetylation (DAC). The higher the DAC, the 
        better. (The DAC is determined by the number of hydrolysis steps 
        involved. The first hydrolysis leads to a DAC of about 80%; the second 
        hydrolysis leads to a DDA of about 90%) 
    b) The viscosity standard, which reflects the molecular weight 
5) Chitosan is typically found in dietary supplements for reducing fat 
    absorption, lowering cholesterol levels and promoting weight loss 
6) No known toxicity
7) Typical recommendations for chitosan supplements are 2-6 grams per 
    day, usually consumed in divided doses of about 1 gram with each meal
